Want to know how to define a character viewer for GNU APL on MacOSX (Mavericks/Yosemite)

Is there a way to define your own character viewer on MacOSX Mavericks (10.9) or Yosemite (10.10)? Or where are the resources for the character viewer?

The goal is to create a character palette for entering APL characters for GNU APL.

This is not a character viewer answer, but it is how to enter the APL symbol on your Mac.

According to the GNU APL mailing list, use the keyboard definition file and font of the commercial Dialog APL (^^); There is also a non-commercial license, so there may be no problem, but please use it at your own discretion.

The following steps are for the 101US keyboard. The 106JP keyboard will need to modify the definition file. It's XML, so I should be able to handle it with a few modifications.

The keyboard layout can be found here at .

Wouldn't it be easy to use a standard character viewer instead of creating a character viewer?Click the input source icon on the menu bar to open the standard character viewer from View Character Viewer. You can create a palette of APL symbols by searching for them and pressing "Add to Common Items".

If you want to create your own special character viewer, you will need to have extensive knowledge of GUI programming on your Mac. You should look at the Mac Developer Library and reference books and ask questions individually.

gnu-apl-symbols.el lists the APL symbols and provides the corresponding symbols, readings, and keys. This may also be helpful.
