Storing media files on one external 2TB hard drive
I've lost data in the past due to a hard drive failure, and I wanted to back up so that I could recover even if one external hard drive failed.
When I looked it up, I found out how RAID 1 works, but I was worried when I saw an article saying that RAID 1 is not a backup, so I asked.
The article says, "The data is synchronized on two hard drives, so if the other data is lost, it will be reflected on the other side.So it's not going to be a backup."
I have a question based on the above investigation. Does RAID 1 synchronize the corrupted data to the other hard drive when one hard drive fails and the data is corrupted?
I'd like to have a backup for a hard drive failure, but wouldn't RAID 1 be a backup?

RAID 1 itself is not a "backup"
RAID 1 is replicated = mirrored for the same data, so you might think, "If you save it here, the backup is perfect!"However, the same data is "simultaneously" stored on hard drives 1 and 2, respectively.If the data is accidentally overwritten/saved/disappeared, it will be overwritten at the same time, so you cannot say, "I made a mistake, so I'll return it from the backup."This means it will not function as a backup.

and RAID 1 that cannot be restored is not a backup.
