Reject with iTunes connect

Asked 2 years ago, Updated 2 years ago, 135 views

I upgraded the app via iTunes connect, but it was rejected with the following message. What should I fix?

Before you Submit

Your app does not complete with the Guidelines for Using Apple's
Trademarks and Copyrights.Specifically, your app includes:

The term iOS in the device name.

Next Steps

Please revise your app and its metadata to address these trademark
issues.

For your convenience, we've provided the release section /s of the
Guidelines for Using Apple's Trademarks and Copyrights:

Product Names Guidelines

You may use Apple, iPhone, or any other Apple word mark (but not the
) Apple Logo or other Apple-owned graphic symbol/logo) in a reference
phase on packaging or promotional/advertising materials to describe
that the third party product is compatible with the referenced Apple
productor technology, provided they complete with the following
requirements:

  • The Apple word mark is not part of the product name.
  • The Apple word mark is used in a reference phase such as "runson", "for use with", "for", or "compatible with".
  • The Apple word markappearsless prompt than the product name.
  • The product is in fact compatible with, otherwise works with, the referenced Apple product.
  • The reference to Apple does not create a sense of endorsment, sponsorship, or false association with Apple or Apple products or
    services.
  • The use does not show Apple or its products in a false or diagnostic light.

In other words, other applying on the application itself and/or in
marketing materials, the word iPhone may be used as a descriptor, but
not as part of the product name.

<<Additional>>
I am using a screenshot of the description that shows the iPhone device like this.I often see it in the App store, but I wonder if this may be the cause.

First of all, you should look into what's clearly written in the reviewer's message.

Specifically, your app includes:

The term iOS in the device name.
(Specifically, the word iOS exists in the device name in your app.)

So you should check if the word iOS is used in your app (some of it says metadata, but if you submitted a version upgrade app to the review normally, it includes not only metadata, but also the app itself).(The item device name should not have been on the iTunes Connect application's metadata screen, so there is a high possibility that it is the application itself. However, it is often difficult to understand what is wrong with the reject communication from the reviewer.)

As I wrote above, the object to be examined must include metadata such as application name/app description/screen image, as well as each screen of the application itself.(For example, there is a possibility that you will be out just by writing iOS on the test data for examination.Of course, even in the operation image.)

(1) If you can't find the word "iOS" when you look it up

Tell Apple that and tell me which part of the screen you're talking about

(2) Found using the word "iOS" in a place that can be easily deleted/modified

Build the deleted/modified version and submit it to the review again.

  • Re-submit by Reject
  • Rejected Reason
  • That part has definitely been corrected and should be checked

If you specify something, you will be able to proceed with the examination quickly.

(3) I use the word "iOS", but Apple's rules should be OK

After clarifying where the word "iOS" is used and its intentions, insist that it should be recognized according to this rule.If you don't have English skills, it might be a little hard.

By the way, in this case, it's not Apple's rule that it should be OK, but even if you say, "There's a similar app already published in the App Store," you won't be able to deal with it.There are occasional posts on Apple's DevForum, but it seems that they often just reply to a template saying, "We are judging your app according to Apple's rules (so I don't know about other apps!"

Find out what the word "iOS" stands for and contact Apple according to the results. As stated in the other answers, if hundreds of respondents on this site make a fuss about OK or NG, I don't know what Apple reviewers will make.

There are rules for using images of Apple products such as images.
In this case, you should not be able to see the full picture of your iPhone.
For example, you have to hide the home button or shave the home button.
The full picture of Apple products is bound by the terms of use.

The reject content has the reason number for the reject.
If you search for it, some people share the contents of the reject, so it will get stuck.
I don't know because there is no most important reason for rejection in the question.
(*It's written in the title of the reject.)

If you don't know the details of the application, it will be difficult to advise you to reject metadata, so
You may want to contact Apple.

However, the inquiry form (email support) is only available in English, so
If you are not confident in English, you may ask directly over the phone.
You can also try calling them here for a list of phone numbers.

Note: Guidelines for Using Apple Trademarks and Copyrights

If it is rejected by Apple, it looks like a copy of the reason for the rejection, so
It is necessary to assume that it is caused by a variety of reasons, or to ask the review team and sort them out.
As mentioned in the comments in the questionnaire, the use of images and names is also subject to examination.
The new guidelines do not number it, but it is an "old 8.1" item.
This is about trademark rights.

Only the parties concerned and Apple's reviewer know about these issues.
*This is not a technical rejection, but a content rejection.

It's best to ask the Troubleshooting Center what the problem is.
Also, please list and tell me what you know about the cause.
Apple is kind in its own way, so I think they will take care of it.
