Understanding Esc Keys in Use of Xcode

While editing item names such as image.xcassets in Xcode, press esc to enter the letter l.
I am pressing esc to cancel the edit, so what should I do if I want to cancel it?

MacOSX 10.11.2
Xcode 7.2
key is a Japanese array

If you want to change it back before editing,

Remove all item names and finish editing
After editing, "command+z"

I think I can put it back around.
