Can I convert my own font into data in xcode?

Asked 2 years ago, Updated 2 years ago, 148 views

Would it be possible to convert the font (characters) that I made with Xcode software into data in the form of OpenTypefont and display them in word?

Or, even if I can't do that, can I tap the keyboard as an ios app to display my own font on the screen?

Among Xcode, I can choose languages such as Objective C and C, but if this kind of thing is possible, which language should I choose?

If you can't, I would appreciate it if you could tell me another appropriate language (preferably with a mac computer).

I don't mind if it's simple.

Xcode is a software development environment, so it is possible to develop an application that creates fonts (which you refer to as "font data").However, Xcode is not the application itself that creates the font.
If you search the net quickly, the application that creates the font will find something like this:

OTedit for Mac

It seems that basic knowledge of fonts is needed, so I will give you a little overview of the fonts, but OpenType and TrueType fonts can be installed in Windows, Mac, iOS (iPhone/iPad) in common (I don't know Android). You can probably do it, but if you need it, you can look it up for yourself.) If "self-made font" is a TrueType font, you don't have to change it to OpenType. You can still install it on any device.

あなた If you add to your own question, you are ready to augment the description according to the addition, if possible.

I usually specialize in Android, and I've only recently started iOS...
in your question. 1. I would like to convert the font (character) that I made myself with software called Xcode into data in the form of OpenTypefont, and display it in word, etc. Would that be possible?

2. Or even if I can't do that, can I tap the keyboard as an ios app to display my own font on the screen?

There are completely different ways of doing , so it is impossible to do so in a common way.I will probably expect the final goal to be Question 2.

First of all, I think it is possible to make one's own Xcode, but I think it will be difficult in its own way, so I think you should use some kind of commercial software.

By creating a font file using commercially available font creation software and installing it on a computer such as a Mac, you can display it on word.To install it, double-click the font file to launch the font management software, so you can follow the instructions (you can install both win and mac with double-click if it's recent).
If you want to try installing it, I think it would be better to try installing the IPA font created by IPA.However, it is not allowed to be distributed directly into the app, so please check the license carefully.

When you start word after the installation is complete, the installed font is added to the font list of word.

2. is accomplished by incorporating a font file that has already been created into the app during the iOS app creation process. This is the same with Android apps, and it is impossible without a font file. Therefore, it cannot be realized if 1. is not possible. As for the lining, it is possible to create characters as images using illustrators and display images instead of characters, but it consumes a lot of memory, so it is not a very good method.

Therefore, in order to achieve 2. as soon as possible, you can create a font file with commercially available font creation software and incorporate it in the iOS app creation process.
